Dear Colleague,

 

I take this opportunity to wish you, your family & all the members of your Society, a Happy, Healthy, Bright, Prosperous, Peaceful, Successful, Fruitful & Terror free New Year.

This is to inform you that I have taken over as Secretary General of FOGSI from 5th January 2009. I assure you prompt reply of your letters, emails & other queries. I am sure you all will participate actively & enthusiastically in the theme projects of FOGSI under the guidance of Dr. C. N. Purandare, FOGSI President, in the year 2009. I will keep mailing you important informations. Please check your emails regularly. If you need any help from our side you can contact us any time or staff of FOGSI between 11.00 a.m. to 6 p.m. on working days.

I have certain requests to make for better functioning of our organization as follows:

  1. Please send Member’s subscription (Rs. 500 per old member and Rs. 530 per new member) as soon as possible, but not later than 31st March 2009, alongwith updated list of members with their complete details.
  2. A common Membership form for becoming member of any Ob. & Gyn. Society will be put up on the website. Henceforth please use this form to maintain uniformity regarding details of all the FOGSI Members.
  3. Please visit FOGSI’s website www.fogsi.org and send in your suggestions.
  4. We need to promote “Social Security Scheme” & “Medical Indemnity”. Sending you herewith the forms. Please inform all your members & convince them to be a part of it.
  5. Please keep record of all the Scientific / Social activities carried out by your Society & send a report of such activities with photographs, Newspaper cuttings etc. for purpose of record to FOGSI office.
  6. Sending you herewith various projects / programmes / workshops going to be carried out in the year 2009 by FOGSI under the able leadership of President of FOGSI, Dr. C. N. Purandare. Please write to us if you wish any of the programmes to be conducted at your Society.
  7. FOGSI has made provision of creating email id. For each & every President & Secretary of its memberbodies. You will be sent the details of it aling with password soon. The purpose is that information can be sent to all the Presidents & the Secretaries of various Societies without knowing the names & different email ids. The email id would be e.g. presidentagrasoc@gmail.com & secretaryagrasoc@gmail.com. Only you will have access to it (password will be sent to you). You will have to pass on the same to newly elected President & Secretary, as the case may be.
  8. Please do not mention anywhere President, FOGSI XYZ chapter or Society. As per protocol you can mention President XYZ Ob. & Gyn. Society.
  9. Please send details of members of your Society ONLY in the FORMAT provided by FOGSI otherwise it will not be accepted. No hand written details of members will be accepted.
  10. Incomplete information / details also will not be accepted. Kindly respect deadline for submission of this important information.

-         2 Fellowships in Oncology for post MD /MS candidates of 3 months duration at a leading Cancer Institute.

3. HIV in Pregnancy Project :-

        This is a unique public private partnership project of FOGSI to involve private sector in the implementation of PPTCT services with the help of UNICEF & NACO.

        FOGSI as part of its social responsibility wants to reach out to each & every pregnant woman whether rural or urban. We certainly can do it as we have the army of 23,000 committed gynecologists to the cause.

Ø      One day programme.

Ø      One Core Committee member will be present and will take one or two topics and rest of topics will be taken by the local Society members. President and Secretary of respective Society will decide the Speakers.

Proposed Outcome:

        FOGSI HIV/AIDS policy.

        23000 FOGSI members will be educated and sensitized.

        60 FOGSI members in 30 high priority districts will be implementing the PPTCT services.

Development and implementation of an E Database. FOGSI website is fully operational with PPTCT details.

Project activities:

 The following activities will be carried out to achieve the specific objectives-

        FOGSI Policy has been already formulated.

        To sensitize and educate FOGSI members on the implementation of FOGSI HIV/AIDS policy. (Will include Armed Forces and Police force of various states involved.)

        To operationalise PPTCT services in 2 nursing homes of FOGSI members present in 33 high priority districts as per NACO classification.

        To set up a national E-database for strengthening the monitoring and evaluation process and reporting for the program.

4.  Village Adoption Project:

Ø      Each Society adopts a village with population of more than one lakh.

Ø      Conducts health camp every two month at primary health center in the village adopted.

Ø      Local Society to send faculty / Doctors for camp for lectures & conducting OPD.

Ø      Arrangement of camp & logistic support will be provided by ‘Emcure Pharma’.

Ø      Creation of general health awareness.

Ø      Emphasis on Anemia, Safe abortion, Prevention of HIV, Early detection & treatment of cervical & breast cancer.

Ø      Awareness program will be by lectures, video films, posters.

Ø      Health check up OPD for Antenatal check-up pregnant women & routine gynecology check-up.

Ø      Screening for cervical cancer, clinically & by PAP smear.

Ø      Screening for Breast cancer, clinically & by mammography.

Ø      Follow up of the patients & referral to tertiary/Higher center, if required, for necessary treatment at subsidized rates.

 

FOGSI-Emcure Initiative for Anemia Eradication:

  1. Launched the 12 x 12 programme in 2007.
  2. Scaled up to 24 x 7 x 365 in 2008.
  3. To achieve the target, planning to take forward with Emcure. Support all over India.
